| 2008 “The Year of New Beginnings” | |
Religion is the most powerful force on earth! Virtually every major problem in history and in our contemporary world can be traced to some religious foundation. Religion has motivated the massacre of millions over the years in such horrific events as the Crusades, the Inquisition and wars related to the Protestant Reformation and the Catholic Counter reformation. Are all religions the same? In Dr Myles Monroe’s book “Kingdom Principles” he states, All religions are the same in the sense that they attempt to answer the questions of power and meaning. They all promise power to control life and circumstances and to explain life and death. They all claim to have the truth. They all claim superiority over each other. They all compare and compete with each other. They all demand adherence to their particular belief system while denying the others. They all are motivated by contention and usually thrive in an isolated culture that excludes other segments of humanity. In fact, all religions seem to glory in a spirit of segregation and separatism. Rather than uniting humanity with common power and knowledge of purpose, religion has proven itself instead to be the great divider of mankind. Christ said, in St John 12:32 “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me”. In 2008 let’s lift up Christ in all that we do and let it be before our church or other organization. It is the most crucial step we can take to show we truly love Christ more than any thing else in this world. In as much as Jesus did not come to lift up a church or even a religion let us see the truth of why he came. Christ came to turn the hearts of the people back to the true Kingdom of God. In (Matt 4:17) Jesus said “Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand”. He did not refer to his new church, the temple, or even anything earthly! He was referring to The Kingdom of Grace coming down from Heaven and abiding among men. It is Repentance and confession that will bring this Grace to you who maybe afar off from it. It is coming under Christ’ authority and leadership that guarantees you a place in this New Kingdom. Now!, The duty of the Christians’ who have partaken of this great measure of love from heaven is to press into the word of God by and through the Holy Spirit to, understand it, live it, share it. Since religion is what destroys and divides lets us not exploit it more but let us search out the deep things of God. “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God”. (1 Cor 2:9-10) In 2008 let us pray that God will bring churches and people together, based on what we have in common, so we may see the true power of the Kingdom of Heaven in each other. Smith Wigglesworth one of my favorite evangelists never tried to build a physical church but he instead move in the Kingdom of God to share it with as many as would receive it. The Year of New Beginnings can be a year of healing and restoration for churches seeking the higher calling or the dominion of God’s Kingdom and all His righteous. It can be the year for churches to work corporately together to grow the Kingdom of Grace and let God add to the churches as he sees fit. In Acts, “And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house(church to church), did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved”. Acts 2:46-47. I’m ready for the New Opportunities and blessings that God in Christ will deliver to those who continue daily in one accord. Let us build His kingdom and not ours! |
